Yellow Jadeite

Yellow jadeite ranges from pale butter to warm honey, mi tang huang (蜜糖黄), the colour of poured honey. It forms where iron has oxidised the outer layer of a jadeite boulder, the same process that produces red jadeite, which is why yellow often appears as a band or a blush alongside white, green or lavender rather than across a whole stone. In the trade it is grouped with red as fei (翡), the warm side of jadeite's palette. Natural yellow has depth and slight variation; a flat, uniform, bright yellow is a reason to ask about dye. Every piece here is untreated Grade A, the colour exactly as it formed.

Frequently asked about

What makes jadeite yellow?
Iron oxidation in the outer layer of the jadeite boulder. The same weathering produces red jadeite, so yellow often appears as a band or blush rather than evenly through the stone.
How can I tell natural yellow from dyed?
Natural yellow has depth and gentle variation. Dye tends to look flat and collects in fissures. Every piece here is untreated Grade A, backed by our authenticity guarantee and open to independent lab testing.
