Daily wear
Jadeite is comfortable for everyday wear. It is heat- and water-resistant, but benefits from a few small habits:
- Put your jadeite on last when getting dressed - after perfume, lotion, and hairspray.
- Take it off before sport, gardening, swimming in chlorinated pools, or saunas.
- Store each piece separately, wrapped in the silver cloth it arrived in. Jadeite is hard but can scratch against harder gemstones.
Cleaning
Warm water, a soft microfibre cloth, and a drop of mild soap. Pat dry. Never use ultrasonic or steam cleaners - they can dislodge settings on rings and pendants.
When colour seems to "deepen"
Some buyers notice their jadeite appears richer after a few months. This is not your imagination - body oils slowly polish the surface and warm the colour through skin contact. It is a feature, not a flaw.
