Authenticity & Origin

Grade A jadeite is natural and untreated - no bleaching, no polymer, no dye. Its colour and translucency are exactly what came out of the ground. This is the only kind of jadeite we sell, from either origin.

Both origins produce genuine, natural Grade A jadeite. They simply tend to look a little different:

• Burmese (Myanmar) jadeite is the classic source - prized for vivid "imperial" greens, fine lavender, and high translucency. Generally the more sought-after, and priced accordingly.
• Guatemalan jadeite tends toward deeper forest greens, blue-greens, and occasionally rare tones not found in Burma. Often more affordable for the same quality of stone, which is part of how we keep prices kind.

Neither is "fake" or "lesser" - they are two natural sources of the same mineral. We list the origin on every piece so you can choose by eye and by budget.

Where a piece includes a lab certificate, it is issued by an independent gemological laboratory and identifies the stone as natural jadeite. Pieces sold without a certificate are no less genuine - a certificate is simply an added cost we don't force onto lower-priced items. You are always welcome to have any piece tested at an independent gemological lab of your choice, backed by our authenticity guarantee.

Real jadeite is a natural stone. It almost always carries small, beautiful imperfections that prove it grew in the earth, not in a factory. We describe these openly on every product page so you know exactly what you're buying.

• Stone lines (石纹) - fine, hair-thin lines, often only visible when light catches them. Like the veining in marble.
• Cotton (棉) - soft, cloud-like inclusions that add depth and movement to the colour. A signature of natural jadeite.
• Black spots (黑点) - tiny dark mineral deposits formed over millions of years. A fingerprint of genuine, untreated stone.
• Colour root (色根) - a concentrated vein of colour that spreads outward into the surrounding stone. The source of a piece's most vivid hues.

A piece described as "flawless" at our price is almost certainly dyed, polymer-treated, or not jadeite at all. We'd rather show you the truth and let you choose with full knowledge.

If a piece you buy from us is tested by an independent, accredited gemological laboratory and found to be anything other than natural Grade A jadeite, send us the report and your order details and return the piece to us.
